7th Science Wheeler 3-Group 3 Assignments

We will play a review game in class on Thursday and complete the google form as a review. You may complete this early if you want.

Please use the google form to vote for the game you want to use in class on Thursday to review for the test on Friday. Then complete the Flocabulary by logging in with Google and selecting your school email account. The video is called Motion. You only have to watch the video and complete the vocab game. I will be on the class link during class time to answer any questions.

The Nearpod will be completed in class. Then you will complete the ck-12 on Forces. Click the link below to join ck-12 if you have not already done so. This link will also take you to the correct site. There are 5 adaptive practice assignments. There are 2 more for bonus: Momentum and Conservation of Momentum.

The Nearpod will be completed together in class. Then you will open your Acceleration Worksheet and Simulation to finish the study about how Newton's 3 Laws apply at a waterpark. We will be discussing this later this week.

We will do the Nearpod in class together. Then we will use the simulation to answer the questions on the Friction worksheet.

Use the simulation link. Click on Motion. Go to view assignment. Open the Google Doc above "Turn In" that has your name on it. Complete the Questions. Then go back to turn in. If you need to edit after it has been turned in, click "Unsubmit". If the website doesn't work on your computer, then use the Nearpod link to access the simulation. Make sure it is finished before class on Thursday. If you don't finish today, finish tomorrow in between or after testing.

Use Ch 8.1 to 8.4 of the Science Textbook to help look up answers.

We will complete this Nearpod Lesson in class. Then use the links in the slides to research water slides to better understand the forces that act on them. Add what you find in your research to the google doc. Click view assignment and open your copy of Water Slide Research doc that has your name on it, that is already attached.

In the Nearpod you will take a quiz, watch an ESPN video and answer questions, then make sure you have completed the Flocabulary assignments: Flocabulary.com

Use the Energy PowerPoint to find the answers to the questions in the google form Energy Review.

Open the word document below. Then open the Nearpod - PhET simulation: Intro to Energy Skate Park Lab. In the Nearpod hit the right arrow to bring up the simulation. Use the simulation to answer questions in the word doc and submit your work. Complete at least half, which is question 1-11 on Wednesday and finish on Thursday.

Join with this CODE at join.nearpod.com "OURQC" or click below. Then read each question. The questions will tell you how to set up your simulation. You should be able to easily type on the file below and it is already saved and attached here with your name on it. When finished come back here and "Turn In".

Be sure to write full sentences when explaining question 20 and 21 and answer each part of the questions. On question 21 to draw your track click where you want it to appear, go to the menu at the top of the document and click insert, then another menu will appear below - click drawing, then click New+, next select the arrow next to the line, click scribble. This will allow you to draw your track then hit save and close to put it in your doc. For more instruction on this watch the video below.

Complete the Nearpod while in class at 11am along with all the questions. Remember you grade is based on you answering the questions during the Nearpod Lesson. If you miss class then complete the one linked below: 15pt. Write a paragraph at the end of the Nearpod Lesson 10pt: You are a superhero. Explain 3 superpowers based of 3 different types of energy. Tell how you use them and what they do. Complete the Energy Conversions cK-12 15pt. Be sure you have joined the class first.

Then complete the reading and adaptive practice questions. Next, go to the Physics of Archery simulation and move the bow to explore the energy then answer the 5 questions. Finally check out the weight on the planets and record your findings in the google form.

After you complete the Nearpod, then complete the assignment: Forms of Energy

Join CK-12 class by going to the Resources here under Classwork. If you do not join then your score will not be recorded and you will have to redo. Then complete the assignment Kinetic Energy which has a reading, video, practice questions and a real world video or activity.

Review Energy. Complete the Read and Practice Assignments.

Complete the Nearpod Lesson. Be sure to answer every question, especially the one at the end of the Mythbusters video. If you attend class on Tuesday we will do this together in class. You will have no additional assignments.

Complete the Nearpod lesson and answer all questions. Go to Flocabulary and complete the lesson.

You will receive a code from your teacher Friday Morning. Complete the Google Form Test based on the scientific method and design process. The open responses question will be graded later and points added back to your score. At the end, click view score and look at missed questions. Open a blank google doc, then copy and paste all missed questions. Look up the answer. When you find it, copy and paste the sentence and name of the source of where you found it. Attach Doc to this assignment. You can earn half your points back:

You will create a flipgrid video explaining one of the scientific processes we studied, either the scientific method or design process. Explain the process by naming each step and 1 sentence about what you would do in that step. You only have 3minutes. So plan what you will say. I suggest writing a script. Try to use the vocabulary words from last week.

Open the Document below and start applying what you have learned about scientific processes to the paper airplane. On Wed conduct the scientific method. On Thurs conduct the Engineering Design Process. Following instructions in blue. You may delete the blue instructions once you complete that part. Other parts are already completed to help you through the process.

If you miss any questions, earn back half your points by copying and pasting the question into a google doc. Then find a sentence in the article that supports the correct answer, copy and paste the sentence, and identify the correct answer. Turn this in here on the assignment link. Meet the Class Activity: Your first science assignment is to make a video to introduce yourself to your teacher and classmates using Flipgrid. Then make respectful comments on each other's videos. This Flipgrid link will be used for several assignments throughout the year so learn how to use it in this activity. Tell about you and create your 1-2 minute video any way you like while including at least 5 of the listed information below. Watch my “about me” video resource and then tell me about you. Remember what that smart little rabbit thumper said: "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all.". But you do need to find 5 nice things to say about 5 other videos. (1 appropriate comment on 5 different videos 10pts) Have fun being creative!

your favorite subject,
what topic in science interests you (space, rocks, chemistry, animals, energy, cells, etc.),
places you have traveled,
places you would like to visit one day,
if you have siblings,
your favorite color,
what kind of music you enjoy,

I can't wait to meet each of you in person, but until then I want to learn about you and get to know you. Fill out the attached "Meet the Class All About You" doc to tell me all about you. I filled it out too. Meet Your Teacher: Check out my sheet to get to know me. Read the rubric for grading information. Fill each box with at least 3 answers. When you open the doc you will not be able to edit it. You will need to go to File and make a copy. Name the copy "Last Name, First Name All About Me". Submit it on here.
