Grubb To Lead Early Childhood

Interim Superintendent Anna Shepherd announced Kimberly A. Grubb will lead the Early Childhood Department for Floyd County Schools for the duration of Mrs. Shepherd’s time as interim superintendent.

Kimberly has served the children of Floyd County Schools for 25 years, beginning her career at Martin Elementary before moving to May Valley. Her 16 years of experience teaching in Head Start and Preschool classrooms make up the first part of her history. Along the way, Kim coordinated the May Valley Born Learning Academy and was the Curriculum Lead for Floyd County Head Start. She’s been on many district level teams and has represented Floyd County Schools regionally and at the state level. She is an active member of the Floyd County Community Early Childhood Council and collaborated to help bring Kindergarten readiness activities virtually into homes and with restarting the Dolly Parton Library. Kimberly has been inducted into Floyd Cooperative Extension Hall of Fame for service and leadership and is a great example for community service. For the past nine years Kim has served as the Education Consultant for Early Childhood where she has worked with teachers in all early childhood classrooms in the district.

Kimberly received her Bachelor of Arts in Middle School Education from Alice Lloyd College, her Masters in Elementary Education from Morehead State University and her Supervisor of Instruction from the University of the Cumberlands. She received her Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) certificate through the University of Kentucky.

Kim and her husband Tony live in Martin but they do love to travel with Harbor Island, SC being Kim’s favorite. She is an avid nature-lover and enjoys hiking, fishing, biking and simply being outdoors. She is a fan of all types of music, especially soundtracks from the 80’s and 90’s.

Grubb  comments, “I am blessed, honored and excited to embark on this new journey. I believe that a key element in being successful in school and in life is starting with a strong foundation and this foundation begins in early childhood. Working with our EC team and our amazing families and community members has been a wonderful experience.” Grubb continues, “Our Early Childhood team has seen great success with school readiness and I’m excited about continuing our work in preparing our youngest learners to be ready for school and life.”

Interim Superintendent Shepherd comments, “Kim is a wonderful addition to any team. Her dedication to the children of Floyd County Schools is admirable and an example to all and she will only take the EC department forward to more success.”
